Meet Michelle Diamond!

Born in San Diego and now balancing a career in NYC and Atlanta, Michelle Diamond is the only child of avid theatre-goers Marie and David Oppedisano (her dad was even featured in an article because of his enthusiasm for “bringing others to the theatre”). Her Italian descent is where she gets her signature “voice that carries,” which may have gotten her into trouble as a child, but it has been her claim to fame on the stage.
Her parents have always been huge patrons of the arts. Her father, also supporting the independent film scene, brought them to the Sundance Film Festival every year as a family trip. Her mother was a theatre critic, and when Michelle was just two years old, she became her mom’s official theatre date. She was bitten by the performance bug immediately and began taking singing, dancing and acting lessons. The rest is history.
Michelle was in countless musicals and plays as a child and got her first Broadway callback on her fourteenth birthday. During high school, she was in the original Broadway workshop of The Kid Who Played The Palace, directed by Peter Sklar, who helped develop the careers of Sarah Jessica Parker, Hunter Parrish and Reese Witherspoon to name a few. She was cast in her first independent film, Payback Always Comes Around, when she was 16 years old. Transferring from the prestigious Boston Conservatory, where she studied Musical Theatre, she obtained a Bachelor of the Arts in Drama Studies from Purchase College. She has since graced the Off-Broadway stage as well as countless regional theatre productions, independent films, commercials and TV. She originated the role of Jackie in the musical New York Nights, (yes, her name is printed in the script). Of course, Michelle performed in Tony and Tina’s Wedding not once, but twice, (she is Italian after all!) directed by the co-creator, Kevin Alexander. She gained critical acclaim for her portrayal of Squeaky Fromme in Assassins in 2022.
She performed in Tennessee Williams’s The Case of the Crushed Petunias off-Broadway in the famous Theatre Row, alongside Letty Ferrer, daughter of the world-renowned acting teacher Uta Hagen and under the direction of Tony nominee Lorrain Serabian.
Her film, Guest With Benefits (which stars Susan Shalub Larkin), is currently making the festival circuit and recently won an award at the Georgia Latino International Film Festival. Currently working as a writer on multiple projects, she also enjoys co-producing film festivals and is the treasurer and a founding member of Actors Army, a grass-roots production group in Atlanta. Michelle holds a special place in her heart for independent films and their authentic, vulnerable storytelling. If you’re lucky, you can sometimes catch her singing at Ellen’s Stardust Diner in Times Square.
Just look for the girl with the unabashedly bubbly and positive personality. In her spare time, she loves to teach yoga and spread sunshine everywhere she goes.
